Health Behaviour Research

Welcome to the Health Behaviour Research website. We hope you will enjoy browsing through our website, and find a lot of useful information here. We pay great attention to the quality of our consulting and training services. You can find detailed information about our services online or contact us for help.

Our products are developed using a systematic approach to developing evidence (psychological theory and evidence of effectiveness) and user informed interventions. Such integrative approaches have been shown to produce the most robust ways of targeting health behaviour interventions to achieve the most sustained changes in important health outcomes. For more information on how we develop our interventions, see our list of publications

These assessment and education tools are an evidence based method designed for qualified health care professionals including midwives, children’s nurses, health visitors and doctors. The CUBA provides a means of assessing learning needs, and the Workbook & DVD provide a self directed learning method. Feedback on the Workbook is given by skilled clinicians. The DVD supports two essential practice
skills. Both support the aims of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative’s Ten Steps to Successful B reastfeeding in maternity units and the Seven Point Plan for Sustaining Breastfeeding in the Community.

The CUBA and Workbook & DVD are designed for organisations seeking to achieve improvements in breastfeeding support. The feedback from the CUBA and from the clinicians who mark the workbooks helps to target education and support where it is most needed. The benefits include:

  • Improving breastfeeding knowledge and confidence in staff
  • More consistent advice on breastfeeding
  • Increasing initiation and duration of breastfeeding
  • Allows greater understanding of breastfeeding and highlights development needs
